Media Interest Growing
I just wanted to share some recent developments with forum members. As you may know we were asked to provide technical support and a presence on camera for a BBC programme to be screened in January or February next year. I am not allowed to say too much about it at the moment but it starred a certain diminutive presenter from a famous motoring programme! Everything seems to have gone off well and the film crew were happy with what we were able to do for them. Yours truly will be appearing on a couple of "pieces to camera" and our building skills were well appreciated by the crews. Thanks have to go to Andy Huw and Jack, for their input and for building one of the two rockets, and I lost count of the number of emails to and fro as well as hour long phone calls trying to suss out one point after another, and also to Richard Brown for providing the motors and reloads! It all came good in the end and you can see one of the two launches carried out, in the gallery. I am waiting for some extra pictures from Andy before putting up a better gallery folder.
Since then, I have had another three enquiries from different groups, from Channel 4 and Saatchi & Saatchi to boot! It's London bus time! |

United Kingdom Space Conference - Appeal for Hobby Rocketry Exhibits!
Hi All
Just in case anyone missed the post below on the UKRA site have posted here as well, hope that doesnt break any rules!
Dave Wright the organiser of the UKSC rang me last night. He is keen to have a hobby rocketry presence on site during the conference (Charterhouse, Godalming 24 - 28/03/2010), as in the past, not just for the Sunday (Public Day).
If any hobby rocketeers are attending the conference and would like to bring along Rockets to exhibit or materials advertising there club or hobby rocketry in general Dave would be very grateful!
regards

February Meeting - 21st Feb
OK folks it's getting near to that time of the month and I am hopeful of (a) good weather and (b) a good turn out for our, hopefully, first flying day. I will be checking the conditions over the next week and I'll make a final decision nearer to the date, but it was looking good earlier in the last week. The track was in good shape for the time of year and the field was firm.
If anyone has anything special that they have been working on then give me a call or post it on the forum, so that we can see what's afoot this year.
Any indications as to who might be turning up will be gratefully received. Start times and End-ex details are on UKRA and the website.
Look forward to seeing as many as we can get.

No problems. It's a pity that we didn't have some more down to chew the fat with.

Nice looking site.
I'm actually a Midland Rocketry spy ;-) Seriously I happen to live in Nuneaton so Oxhill (as well as Midlands Tywcross site) is relatively easy for me to get to, came down to fly once last year and will probably come down again a couple of times this year - its a great site.

Dust down my kit!
So it's been a long time since I flew any rockets, too long really! So, one of my new years resolutions is to dust down my rocket kit, sort out my paperwork and get a few flights in at the start of the season.
I was in the garage at the weekend and realised that my poor rockets, some of which are half finished, really to need to TLC. I also need to see the new site at Oxhill too ...it looks great!
Hope to see you all soon!

The new website is live
That's right, the Black Knights website has been redesigned over the Christmas break to update the site and bring you some new functionality!
New features include:
- Basic member registration - required for posting to the site and searching for other club members
- User Forum - a place for you to talk about upcoming events, launch days, meetings, projects ...just about anything you want really!
- Photo Gallery - A place to put all those rocket and meeting pictures. Full of old stuff at the moment but just give your pics to Dave and he can get them onto the site in a jiffy!
- Article submission - If you want to get involved in creating articles for the website then just let us know and we can active the website publishing feature for you. That means you can write and submit an article directly from within the website. A great way to end your club launch day by writing a short launch report!

- Admin emails / newsletters - The site admin team can email you directly with any important updates or news
The new site has lots of potential features that can be added too, so if you have any ideas then just drop us a line and we'll see what we can do. ...enjoy!
