01/06/2003 - Milson Airstrip Launch Site

Hi all,

This was a test session at the new launch site. So, we all turned up at 1pm. The weather was great with Sun all afternoon and a 5-15mph breeze blowing on and off.
It was also Sean's (me in the jacket) first RSO session as well.
Several launches were had to see how the site behaved, and everything was work out fine site wise.

Ray bust a fin and damaged a nosecone while Richard Parkin lost his Cirrus Dart to the Rocket Gods along with his raptor a few hours later.

The site is now an official flying site and additional flying session's are to be arranged.

After an on-site meeting of the Black Knights committee (see picture above), it was confirmed that this is a K class site, and then we all discussed what ceiling should be put on the site. In the end we agreed with the ceiling heights of....

6,000ft ceiling for single recovery
12,000ft ceiling for dual recovery

Launches to altitudes between 12,000ft and 25,000ft must be by prior arrangement only. We regret that vehicles that are likely to breach 12,000ft ceiling, which have not been arranged before the launch meeting will not be allowed to fly.
