Today's Lineup

The weather was HOT HOT HOT, but we all enjoyed ourselves. This launch event was geared up around our annual rocket challenge event.

First up was the Vending Cup challenge with entrants from Mel, Paul's Kids, Alan and myself. It was a good show, with only 2 bad performers and the others going up to good heights.

Next challenge was the Spot landing, and I was the marker out on the range with a large hammer and a flag.

Then finally, came the egg lofting and being the spotter, I had to go to the next field and watched where they all landed.

Supprising, but this took all of the day, and I left tired, burnt and in need of a cold pint.

By the way, I came third in the vending cup challenge with my bright orange "Coffee Cup III"

Rocket Challenge Report

Yes, its the clubs second launch session in July. What a great day we had, with brilliant sunshine, a good turn out of rocketeers and the vendors turning out in force to support us. Lots of launches sport and competition. We even had a few Model Achievement Programme launches.

The launching was made somewhat more interesting by our host the farmer as he had asked us to launch from a different area this time because of crop conditions. The only problem was that we were rather close to a large deep pond, which made for some interesting recoveriers (fishing rod recovery).
See the photo gallery for pictures from the days flying.

Competition results

Vending Cup Challenge - proved a very popular and amusing class, but think we may need to come up with a tighter set of rules for next year.

2nd Laura Carter

Spot Landing - again proved very popular, might be worth making this a regular feature of our launches!

1st Aldersley High School - Little Red Booster 3, Time 1min 2secs.

Mark

Well the coffee and pop all went down very well, helped by the great weather. As for the competitions, it was well organized with the help of Mark, Ray, Mike and my wife Sharon who all did a great job out there in the sun and not to for get Sean who was well out in the sun spotting (no shade for him).
Like at Milson, there was NO CAFF flying this weekend, only the coffee cups and they went very well. We got back most that was sent up, mine came back as a big lump of plastic, Mel's two stage McDonalds cup did not fair as well. Crash and burn. Sorry Mel :-)

Tthere was so many competitions that day it was hard  to keep track of what was what, so here is a big thank you to all who helped and to those who took part.

See you all at Milson on 3rd August.

Alan
