21/04/2002 - Bridley Moor Launch Site

Sunday the 21/04/02 turned out to be a gorgeous April day. I left home in plenty of time to get to the site at 11.00 only to find out that Redditch council had decided to resurface a number of roads causing traffic jams right across the town! I finally got to the school site around 11.20 to find Pete Davy of Pete's Rockets already there along with a few other rocketeers. After saying hello I started marking out the launch box and noticed that a couple more cars were coming down the road. We soon had over 30 people on site. It was a very pleasant day with lots of launches (By the way flyers, could you remember to hand in your flight reg. cards at the end of the days flying as we seem to be missing a load). As usual John Davies was the most frequent flyer with seven launches, with Ray Hancox and Bob Mosely in joint second with four launches each. See the spreadsheet for details. John launched his reinforced Fat Boy on a B4 giving a very low apogee and demonstrating some interesting flying characteristics. ;-) On the other hand he had a very nice flight of his two stage Long Shot. The only real problem with being so busy was that as RSO I did not get much time to take pictures. Thanks to Bridley Moor School for letting us use the playing fields and of course to Pete Davy of Pete's Rockets for coming along and keeping us supplied with rocketry goodies.
