The weather looked really bad whilst I drove towards the launch site, it was misty with a very low cloud base and very low visibility. I pulled up to find a few others already there but looking cold. Mark dropped of the club paperwork and then left to go to work. I donned the yellow jacket and started to get things going. Rocket were out of the question so it was good that today was already designated as "Monocopter Day". So thats what got going first. I started to judge the flights, some were good and some were laughable (well my attempt at launching a monocopter was laughable - see the video in the gallery).

About 2pm things started to clear up very quickly and we had clear skies visable through a slight haze. So a few rockets went aloft. I did not fancy attempting another D class attempt so after hanging up the yellow jacket to Ray, I then just browsed around the site speaking to Rockets and Things and also Deepsky.

John wanted to do his level 1 so I took him and watched as he assembled his motor and then watched as he launched. It was a good firestarter motor with sparks pouring out of the nozzle during it thrusting stage. Sadly we lost it. John and myself went on a tour of the countryside trying to look for it but after an hour we gave up. Just hope that someone finds it later.

Talking of finding things, I got my Prowler(dm) back which was up a tree. Soggy and usless, but the nose cone and chute as ok. Also talking of trees, Paul got his Yellow Peril stuck in a tree. We managed to get the airframe back but the chute and nose cone are still there.

Despite the cold and initial fog another good turnout for the Black Knights.

The day started out with static hybrid firings moved onto monocopters and then once the fog cleared onto conventional rocketry (thus satisfying the UK's requirement for not flying into cloud).

The Monocopters continued all day with a large variety of designs, congratulations to Peter Lander on his winning design (see gallery for photo).

John Walkers level I flight was very impressive on a Congreve Fire Starter motor.

Thanks to the days RSO's
Sean Arrowsmith, Ray Hancox and Dave Beeton

A big thank you to all the vendors for coming along.

The weather was not kind to us on the Sunday morning with heavy mist and low cloud so I was late getting to Milson. The range had been set out, Sean was RSOing and by midday the weather had cleared and so Monocopters of all designs came out of hiding and I think it was a big success with some high altitudes.

Paul C put his Yellow Peril up only to be gathered up by a very only tree, Sean passed the RSOing on to me so he could give Paul a hand to get his rocket down from the tree.
We had a good attendance from the vendors Malcolm J of Rocket & Things, Alan M of Apo11o, Paul C of Congreve Rockets, and Paul L of Deepsky,so thank to you for attending, and so it was time for me to be heading home and I passed the yellow jacket over to Dave B.

Thank you all for attendance and to Alan M for the tea and coffee and Chris the landlord.
