Black Knights Members Advertise Hobby Rocketry at Cosford Aerospace Museum

Black Knights members Sean Arrowsmith, Dave Beeton, Ray Hancox, Alan Meredith, Richard
Parkin, and Mark Perman put on a static display at the Aerospace Museum Cosford on the
31/08/03, see gallery. We had an outside stand alongside the Bloodhound Missile and its Radar,
which I forgot to take photo's of! We had a good day "talking rockets" and answering questions from
visitors to the stand. We gave out lots of leaflets advertising the club and its activities. Sean and I
wondered around the rocket and missile exhibits with a couple of our own rockets and were asked
jokingly by museum staff if they were ours or the museums, which was good fun. I did remember to
take plenty of photo's of the exhibits, again see the gallery.

All in all a good day out and a good showing for the hobby and the club!

The museum at Cosford is well worth a visit with friendly staff, lots of exhibits and there is no entry
charge as its a National Museum!

One last thought - The Black Knights continues to prosper, meet and fly rockets, advertise our
hobby and managed to put six members on a stand for a static display

Mark

By the time I got there Mark P and Sean A had erected the gazebos, so we got on with the display stand, with the back drop full of photos and notices giving information, plus rockets all over the our pitch. The display looked very good indeed. Although we was not in the best of positions, we did have many visitors asking about the club and a lot of the usual FAQ's.

Dave B came over to see how we where doing and was soon roped in taking addresses for schools projects. Sean A and myself (Ray H) left them to it and we had a walk around the Museum and stalls, which reminds me what Jane (Wife), said to me as I left home (keep your hand off your wallet!!)

Alan M had arrived to help out for the day.  All in all it was a good day out with the weather, plenty of visitors and a big success for the Black Knights Club who is spreading the word of our hobby.

Ray or Hank

I arrived with Mark around 9:15am, and we set up out stand right next door to the Bloodhound Display. (See the pictures in the gallery). It took us to 10am to get everything setup but we were kept being interrupted with people asking question about our rockets.

Lunch was a burger from the BBQ and a cup of coffee.

We spread the word about model rocketry, who the main Association (UKRA) is and that we follow their safety code (copy on the stand), gave out many many club leaflets giving lunch dates, and answered the same question many many times "How high does it go!!"

Went for a walk around the museum and saw an impressive range of rockets and missiles (including a V2), also decided what my next project will be during the forthcoming winter build session. (wait and see!)

Sean
